'Golf and Fish' Series Daily itinerary

Sunday Day One:

Coach from Auckland to Whangaroa Harbour to board Island Passage.

Day Two: Kauri Cliffs -Matauri Bay, Northland

The Bay of Islands, one of New Zealand 's most scenic areas now has a golf course of world class. Without doubt one of the most spectacular and superbly designed golf courses in the world to come up in the last 20 years.

American owner Julian Robertson commissioned David Harman of Golf Course Consultants Florida to design and build the course. Harman, who has worked on more than 200 courses world-wide with the Arnold Palmer's design company, has done a brilliant job. Set on 4000 acres of rolling coastal farmland near Matauri Bay, Northland, Kauri Cliffs was constructed to harmonise and blend with the natural features of the land.

Day Three: Carrington Club - Karikari Peninsula, Northland

The tournament quality 18-hole Carrington Club golf course was officially opened on December 15, 2003 and designed by American golf course designer Matt Dye.

The unique feature of the Carrington Club golf course is that, although it has an ocean side location, it looks and plays like an "inland golf" course, complete with rolling hills, vales, and natural water hazards. The resultant effect is the challenging play of a rolling inland golf course but with the beautiful ocean views of its seaside location.

The course is 6146 metres (7267 yards) in length, par 72, and encompasses a variety of terrains from rolling vales to challenging water holes. The course is designed to accommodate golfers of all abilities and offers a great variety of hole play, from one of the longest par 5's in New Zealand 605 metres (667 yards), to one of the shortest par 3's at 113 metres (132 yards) over water.

Day Four:

This is a rest day with a scenic cruise down the northland coastline to arrive into the spectacular Bay of Islands.

Day Five: Waitangi Golf Club - Bay of Islands (Paihia), Northland

The Waitangi Course not only provides an exciting and ever changing challenge to the golfer but also the most tremendous panorama of sea and island views over the Bay of Islands and Russell The views are complemented by well groomed greens and fairways surrounded by areas of flowering native trees which provide sanctuary for many varieties of native birds. Sir Bob Charles holds the course record, a remarkable 63, up here. We have here a very pure golf course that will refresh the soul with its honesty.

Day Six:  Depart the ship early for our coach to Gulf Harbour Country Club.

Spectacular finishing holes, ocean views, rolling terrain and being designed by one of the world's great golf course designers, Robert Trent Jones II, all combine to make the Gulf Harbour Country Club one of the most exciting golf layouts in New Zealand.

This 6,400 metre, par 72 golf course is located at Gulf Harbour on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, just north of Auckland.  It meanders through native grasses and vegetation and has a natural look and feel from start to finish.  After the game you are transferred back to downtown Auckland by coach.
