Fishing Charters

Island Escape provides a range of blue water sport fishing, game fishing and saltwater fly-fishing escapes in New Zealand.

For a limited season we operate from a Monganui base in Northland to cover the northern areas of New Zealand.  In the NZ summer months striped, blue and black marlin, yellow fin, blue fin, albacore tuna and yellowtail kingfish are abundant throughout the top half of New Zealand.  

Available fishing falls into two main catergories - blue water gamefishing for the likes of marlin, swordfish and tuna; and sportfishing for tuna, kingfish, trevally and a variety of smaller NZ inshore reef species.

Fishing will be conducted from four vessels - Island Passage itself (possible trolling between destinations and jigging/casting over reefs or when anchored up at night, two seven-metre Marco centre console/centra cab tenders and a seven-metre Commando 'landing craft'.  The centre cabin will be set up with outriggers for blue water trolling.  Quality Shimano tackle and accessories will be provided. 

All billfsh will be tagged and released, unless the fish is deemed unlikely to survive.  All fish landed is the property of Island Passage.

Fishing sessions are planned as 0730 - 1130 with a break from lunch and refreshments.  Then a further session from 1.30pm - 5.30pm.  All are subject to weather and vessel positioning.

In the comfort of our 500 ton-luxury ship you can be sure you will receive professional service and import local knowledge from our crew and local guides.  Your ship accommodates a maximum of 20 guests in 10 very spacious and individually designed en-suite cabins that allow guests the space and comfort seldom found on a ship of this size.  A fine wine cellar plus a wide range of spirits, beer and juices are available while onboard.
